On the Fragmentary Complexity of Symbolic Sequences
نویسندگان
چکیده
A measure of the ability of a symbolic sequence to be coded by initial fragments of another symbolic sequence is introduced and its basic properties are investigated. Applications to the characterization of symbolic sequences associated with shift mappings on a torus corresponding to a special partitioning of the torus and to multi-rate systems of coprocessors are considered. A New Approach to Detect Congestive Heart Failure Using Symbolic Dynamics Analysis of Electrocardiogram Signal
The aim of this study is to show that the measures derived from Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals many a time perform better than the same measures obtained from heart rate (HR) signals. A comparison was made to investigate how far the nonlinear symbolic dynamics approach helps to characterize the nonlinear properties of ECG signals and HR signals, and thereby discriminate between normal and cong...

متن کاملParallel Generation of t-ary Trees
A parallel algorithm for generating t-ary tree sequences in reverse B-order is presented. The algorithm generates t-ary trees by 0-1 sequences, and each 0-1 sequences is generated in constant average time O(1). The algorithm is executed on a CREW SM SIMD model, and is adaptive and cost-optimal. Prior to the discussion of the parallel algorithm a new sequential generation with O(1) average time ...
متن کاملLossless Compression and Complexity of Chaotic Sequences
We investigate the complexity of short symbolic sequences of chaotic dynamical systems by using lossless compression algorithms. In particular, we study Non-Sequential Recursive Pair Substitution (NSRPS), a lossless compression algorithm first proposed by W. Ebeling et al. [Math. Biosc. 52, 1980] and Jiménez-Montaño et al. [arXiv:cond-mat/0204134, 2002]) which was subsequently shown to be optim...
متن کاملExploring EFL Learners’ Use of Formulaic Sequences in Pragmatically Focused Role-play Tasks
Communicative language use largely entails regular patterns consisting of pre-constructed phrases or sequences. These sequences have been examined by many researchers to find the situation-based formulas which may help L2 learners follow a possibly more target-like speaking system. This study, therefore, explored two categories of formulaic expressions including speech formulas and situation-bo...
